Short-term impacts of different tillage practices and plant residue retention on soil physical properties and greenhouse gas emissions

چکیده
Reducing tillage intensity and plant residue retention have the potential to mitigate climate change by reducing soil greenhouse gas emissions. Few comparative studies explored effects of different practices on net balance GHG emissions in short term (1–2 years). We hypothesised that decreases compared conventional ploughing removal. estimated practices; no-tillage, minimum-tillage traditional as well on; 1) bare-soil emissions, 2) ecosystem exchange (NEE), ultimately, 3) for mitigation, CO2 equivalent. fluxes were measured using static chamber method physical properties assessed X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) a range methods. No-tillage increased bulk density shear strength ploughed soil. Soil moisture content organic matter at 0−5 cm depth higher no-tillage soil−CO2 CH4 uptake but reduced NEE−CO2 NEE−CH4 uptake. No resulted 56 % 40 reduction equivalent respectively combined crop-soil measurements. Changes interlinked changes pore architecture properties. Taken together our data demonstrate contribute mitigation through

Biochar Impacts on Soil Physical Properties and Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Biochar, a co-product of a controlled pyrolysis process, can be used as a tool for sequestering C in soil to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and as a soil amendment. Whereas the impacts of biochar application on soil chemical properties are widely known, the research information on soil physical properties is scarce. The objectives of this review are to (i) synthesize available data on s...

Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...

15 صفحه اولthe effect of lexical and grammatical collocation instruction through input flooding versus awareness raising on short-term and delayed retention as well a active use
this study attempted to explore if teaching english collocations through two different modes of awareness-raising and input flooding has any possible differential effect on immediate retention as well as retention in a delayed assessment. it also compared the possible differential effect of teaching english collocations implicitly and explicitly on actively using the items in writing. m...

Wheat-corn cropping system is one of the most important grain production systems in theworld. However, the integrative impacts of soil tillage on crop yield, N use efficiency (NUE)and greenhouse gases (GHGS) emissions are not well documented in this system. Thus, a twoyear field experiment was carried out in a typical wheat-corn cropping system with four tillageregimes during the wheat season, ...
